Meet Crystal the Abstract Artist
It is a childhood dream come true to be a full-time artist.
For more than a decade, I built a career in digital marketing in Silicon Valley and Dallas while painting, drawing, teaching, and finding every possible excuse to make something.
I created large fluid paintings, transformed furniture, hosted painting experiences, and spent countless weekends preparing for and connecting with people at art fairs. Friends and patrons joked that I would paint anything that holds still.
Then life changed
From Dallas to Tampa, and back to painting
I moved to Tampa, Florida, and gave up my studio at the Goldmark Cultural Center in Dallas. Without the space for my large, gallery-wrapped canvases, I stepped away from painting for a year.
Instead, I drew the small, playful characters I call Gritters. What began as a creative practice grew into more than a thousand original greeting cards. Many start with a simple squiggle drawn by someone else, which I transform into a one-of-a-kind artwork that will never be duplicated.
Now I am returning to painting while continuing to create custom Gritters, guided by gratitude, purpose, and trust in the creative process.
My creative process
Movement, intuition, and color
My award-winning abstract art combines pigment markers, acrylics, watercolors, and other water-based paints. Before I begin, I center myself through breathwork, meditation, and physical movement. I create when I feel grounded, grateful, and open to divine creative energy.
Metallic details symbolize what I call seeing into the unseen. They remind me there is always more energy, possibility, and beauty around us than we immediately recognize.

The interpretation is yours
You may see a tidal wave where I see a galaxy. You may discover a face, a creature, or an image that awakens a memory. I never begin with the intention of creating something specific. I trust that the finished piece will find the person it was meant for.
